Country superstar Reba McEntire delivered a classic – and, critically to many fans, lengthy – rendition of the American national anthem ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.
With the over-under set at a shockingly low 90 seconds, McEntire got through The Star Spangled Banner pretty quickly yet extended the dramatic ending of the song to hit the over at around 95 to 96 seconds.
Controversially she delivered a second ‘brave’ as the final word.
Safe to say it wasn’t as spectacular as anthems from years gone by, though.

Way to go, Reba. The double “brave” at the end + the cutaway to the fighter jets masking the audio yields our first Super Bowl 58 controversy!! pic.twitter.com/UnYZGV0oK9

That was an efficient national anthem.

When did "entertainment icon" replace "country music superstar?"

Meanwhile before her performance, rapper Post Malone gave a controversial rendition of America the Beautiful – the States’ version of Waltzing Matilda.
While Taylor Swift and Blake Lively were shown enjoying the acoustic, softer version of the tune it divided audiences. It was certainly a change from some of his own music in the past.
